Fray Bentos was a male Mark IV British Army tank, serial number 2329, F41.
In August 1917, Fray Bentos and its nine man crew were involved in what became known as the longest tank action in World War One.
It’s Commander was Captain Donald Hickling Richardson and he was awarded the Miltary Cross along with his 2i/c 2nd Lt George Hill.
Captain Richardson was the son of Arthur Richardson MP who stood as Liberal Candidate for Melton Mowbray.
