 nFor our September talk\, we welcome Andy Porter who will be talking about
  the Daventry Experient.\n&nbsp\;\nThe Daventry Experiment of 1935 was the
  first successful demonstration that aircraft could be detected using radi
 o waves\, marking the birth of practical radar.\n&nbsp\;\nThe Daventry Exp
 eriment was conducted on February 26\, 1935\, by physicist Robert Watson-W
 att and his assistant Arnold Wilkins near Daventry\, England.\n&nbsp\;\nIt
 s primary goal was to test whether radio waves could detect aircraft\, add
 ressing the urgent need for early warning systems as Britain faced the thr
 eat of fast bomber aircraft in the mid-1930s.\n&nbsp\;\nThe experiment use
 d a BBC shortwave transmitter on Borough Hill\, Daventry\, and a receiver 
 set up in a field in Litchborough.
